🌙 Into the Dark, Rolling Seas
October 27th/28th 2025
With the immediate danger passed, Captain Greg directed the vessel to a temporary anchorage just outside the bridge, a strategic holding point. The plan was to wait for the cover of darkness and a favorable tide before tackling the real beast: the Fort Pierce Inlet and Jetty. The crew spent the final hours before departure securing everything to withstand a beating.
At 8:00 PM, the night had settled, and the sea conditions were exactly as predicted—dark, rolling, and challenging. Brandy, without hesitation, pulled the anchor, and the Chasing Destiny was pointed due east, towards the black line of the horizon and the unseen islands.
Leaving through the jetty was an adventure unto itself. The vessel met the incoming swells head-on. The Chasing Destiny felt every ounce of the ocean’s power as it hammered through the crashing waves at the inlet, pushing past the protective stone arms of the jetty and into the deep, dark, and utterly free rolling seas. The crossing had begun.
